From time to time  inquiries come about as to what various vintage microphones compressors, preamps.. all the goodies .. look like. We are attempting to rebuild our library of images over the years of sales and current access to those vintage items which are of peculiar interest. Items are presented as available. A bit of nostalgia...
Frequency response differences between M7 capsule (mylar, original Telefunken era U-47M) and Neumann era U47 (dual polyvinyl diaphragm K-47 capsule). Note rise and dip of K-47 beginning @ 2kHz. This looks very much like a Neumann U-47fet as well (again, K-47). M7 exhibits slow consistent rise beginning at 2kHz and tapering off after 10kHz, giving that particular "airyness" to the U-47M. Neumann sourced the engineering and designs for both eras. The M7 is found in CMV563 and UM-57 microphones also.
The Imperial Records era Ricky Nelson releases documented use of Telefunken U-47M microphones during the recording process.
